Virtues of Imam (AS)

Narration of “Bsa’er” from imam Sadiq (AS)

Abdullah bin Bakr (36) Arjani – in a detailed narration- quotes from Imam Sadiq (AS) that Imam said,

Oh! Son of Bakr, our heart is different from those of other people, we are the purified and the chosen ones, we see things that others do not see and we hear things, which others do not hear. The angels come down to our houses and places their feet on our mat and they see us eat and visit the funerals of our men.

They provide us the news of the events, which have yet not happened and they pray with us and supplicate for us. They rub their wings with us (to make it pious), they carry our kids upon their wings, and they protect them from every harm, they bring seasonal vegetation for us, they bring water from different lands for us, which we have in our vessels. There is no prayer except which they inform us every day, every hour and every second. There is no night except which passes without they bringing us the news of each land, news of Jinn, news of the dwellers in the air from the angels, every king that dies and who becomes their heir and how did he treated his antecedents, they bring every news to us. News from the six lands until the seventh land reaches us.

I said, “May my life be sacrificed on you, what is the limit of this mountain?”

Replied: its limit extends until the sixth land and the hell is one of its valley, in that valley the number of guard are more than the stars in the skies, more than the drops of rain and more than whatever is present in the earth and in the oceans. Moreover, every angel perform their task and they never transgress it.

I said, “Do every angel bring all these news to all of you?”

Replied: No, these news reaches their master (that is Imam Zamana (AS). The limits of our knowledge and power is so great that people cannot bear it nor they can judge it, but we instruct on this instance that anyone who does not accept our commands, upon our order the angels will force them and the angels will order the guards of them to make them accept our commands. If it is from the jinn who are kafir or against us the angels locks them up and tortures them until they accept our commands.

I said, “May my life be sacrificed on you, can Imam see what is between east and west?”

Replied: Oh son of Bakr! Then how is it possible for the Imam to be in between east and west when he cannot see them how can he rule upon them? What kind of Imam is for the people whom he cannot see and do not have authority upon them and upon whom the people do not have influence? How will he spread message of Allah (SWT) and be a witness to their deeds when he cannot see them? How is he an Imam and authority upon them when they are away from his sight and when there is a barrier between them? So that he can perform his duties assigned by Allah for his subjects,

Allah says,

“And we have not sent you except comprehensively to mankind …” it means that we have sent you for everyone who is on the earth.

“والحجّة من بعد النبيّ ‏صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم يقوم مقامه، وهو الدليل على ما تشاجرت‏ فيه الاُمّة، والآخذ بحقوق الناس، والقيام بأمر الله والمنصف لبعضهم من‏ بعض

Moreover, the Hujjat and the Imam is the successor of the Prophet (SAWW), he is the guide to solve the matters amongst the men and defend their rights. Upon the command of Allah, he will stand and take the rights of people from others.

Therefore, if no one is amongst the people then whose words will have effect upon the people, who will apply the laws of Allah, that Allah says:

«سَنُريهِمْ آياتِنا فِي الْآفاقِ وَفِي أَنْفُسِهِمْ» (38) ؛

“We will show them our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth. But is it not sufficient concerning your Lord that He is, over all things, a Witness”

In addition, on the other place He says:

«ما نُريهِمْ مِنْ آيَةٍ إِلّا هِيَ أَكْبَرُ مِنْ اُخْتِها» (39) ؛

“And we showed them not a sign except that it was greater than other”

So which ayah is greater than we are?

By God! Whatever Allah has given us, both Bani Hashim and Quraish do know it but jealousy destroyed them in the same way as the Satan was destroyed.

In the times of difficulties when their lives are in danger they come to us for the solution and we give them the solution of their difficulties, then they say: “We testify that you are knowledgeable.” In addition, when they go outside they say: “we have never seen anyone who is more strayed than those who listen to their words”.

I said “(May my life be sacrificed on you) inform me about Imam Husain, if they open his grave will they find anything?”

Replied: Oh son of Bakr! How strange a question you ask? Imam Husain (AS) is at the Prophets (SAWW) place with his father, mother and brother Imam Hasan (AS), he lives there as the Prophet is living, eat what the Prophet eats, if in those days his grave is opened although his body will be found there but currently he is alive near Allah and is watching over his companions. He looks towards the sky (Arsh e Ilahi) and thinks about the time when he will be ordered to hold his companion.

He is on the right side of Arsh e Ilahi and says “Oh Allah! Fulfill what you have promised me.”

He look at those who visit him, and he knows about their names, their fathers name, their ranks and positions near Allah better than they do. He looks upon those who cry upon him and with love and affection, he ask for their forgiveness from Allah, and ask his father to ask forgiveness for them and he says

Oh, who cries! If you would have known what is there for you, your happiness will be more you cries.

Angels who listen to their cries, who are at the haram (Shrine) Imam Husain (AS), with the love and affection ask for their forgiveness from Allah and he returns sinless from that holy place.
