AN IMPORTANT INCIDENT

FROM LATE SAYYID BAHR AL-ULUM

Late Sayyid Bahr al-Ulum is one of the preeminent of this individual who can see with eyes of his heart. This great man due to the outspread of the sight of his heart he sees what others are unable to see. Let's take a look at a little condition of this great man in order to arrive at conclusion.

Late Muhadith Nuri in "Dar al-Salam" quoted from late Sheikh Taqi Mula Kitab i.e. one of the student of late Ayatullah Sayyid Bahr al-Ulum: I was at the service of Sayyid (may Almighty Allah raises his position) in a journey, the caravan which I and Sayyid belongs to lodged by our side when it is time for lodging, and the only man that is with the convoy walk at the other side of the house. One time Sayyid saw him and pointed at him and said he wanted me to come towards him. Because he was very close to the late Sayyid, he kisses the hands of Sayyid, then Sayyid inquired about the conditions of a lot of people both men and women, that man answered that all are in good condition.

When the man went, we inquired from Sayyid of the dress and the appearance of the man that was not known to be an Iraqi.

Yes, he is from Yemen, Sayyid said.

We said to Sayyid: you've not been to Yemen, how did you come to know these groups of people you have inquired about and how you know their men and women?!

Sayyid in answering the question considerably said: Glory be to God; what is surprising, if I inquired about everyone on the earth span by span which means I know all of them.

Muhadith Nuri (may Almighty Allah have mercy on him) said: in supporting the saying of that great man, all the blesses place that was renovated in Najaf, like Kufah mosque, Hananah mosque, the tomb of Kumail bn Ziyad (may Almighty have mercy on him) the blessed tomb of Hud and Salih (peace be upon them), all these places was detected and renovated by Sayyid Bahr alUlum span by span, if not none of their traces and sign was known right from their time to the time of Bahr al-Ulum.

The entire scholars during the time of Sayyid accepted and implemented all his sayings and no one objected it.

Presently the former tomb of Hud and Salih in Wadi al-Salam still remain which Sayyid said it is not their tomb. Then that place has destroyed and the traces are open for young and old ones to see. After then the other place detected by Sayyid are their shrine and visiting place of the people today.[1]

It was written in the book "Tarikh Kufah" the history of Kufah that the great Allamah Hujjat al-Haq, Sayyid Mohammad Mahdi al-Najafi popularly known as Bahr al-Ulum (may Almighty Allah have mercy on him) possessed immortal traces. Among them is the holy post in Kufah mosque that was not known to people in the past period among those that has insight in religion of which their numbers are few though they are known to people. In this respect Sayyid (may Almighty Allah have mercy on him) took the responsibility of detecting this holy places and the signs, the altars was also constructed by him just like stone pillar in the altar of the holy Prophet (Peace be upon him and his family) for determing the holy Qiblah, this index is the one presently known as "Rakhamah"[2]

Among the works of Sayyid is the station of Imam al-Mahdi (May Almighty Allah hasten his relief) in Sahlah mosque but before then it was not known to people meanwhile Sayyid Bahr al-Ulum (may Almighty Allah have mercy on him) ordered a dome to be constructed in that place until the splendid station was detected.

Certainly this is not a surprising work for him to know and acquainted with all these issues.[3]

The great Allamah, Sheikh Iraqain (the Sheikh of two holy places i.e. Kufah and Basra) Sheikh Abdul al-Husain Tehrani (may Almighty Allah have mercy on him) when he intended to pay visit to the holy places in Iraq and also to rehabilitate it, he search at the two sides of the mosque for the tomb of Mukhtar in order to rehabilitates it but the only information is that he is buried in the court yard of Muslim bn Aqeel (Peace be upon him) and was attched to the central mosque at the head of great concession in the front of Hani bn Urwa (may Allah be please with him). That is why presently that place was dig and bathroom was created there meanwhile it was clarified that that is not the tomb of Mukhtar consequently the trace has been missed. But presently Sheikh by searching that place when the great Allamah Sayyid Rida, the son of Ayatullah Bahr al-Ulum Tabatabi (May Allah have mercy on him) said to him: any place my father pass through from the east side in the front of Kufah mosque close to the wall (it is the place that is presently known as the tomb of Mukhtar).

He always said: we should recite one surah al-Fatihah for Mukhtar. Sheikh ordered that the place should be extirpate and a clear stone written on top of it "this is the tomb of Mukhtar bn Abi Ubaidah al-Thaqafi, and it was clear that that place was the tomb of Mukhtar.[4]/[5]
